1 Star

The most basic level of lodging. Rooms only have the essentials. They almost always lack phone and TV; and in some cases bathrooms and showers are shared. Most do not offer meals, but they are usually located close to attractions, restaurants and stores.


2 Stars

Basic lodging with some additional services. Most lack meeting rooms, bellboys, pools and sports facilities. Meal service is usually limited to continental breakfast (coffee, toast, juice). Rooms usually have a private bathroom, shower, phone and TV.


3 Stars

Facilities include a pool, a gym and a restaurant where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. They normally offer services for business travelers.


4 Stars

Four star hotels offer highly personalized service. Usually you can find more than one restaurant and bar, pools, sports facilities and gym; as well as a business center with a wide range of services. Rooms are frequently equipped with a mini bar and cable TV, among other amenities.


5 Stars

Hotels where the personnel is very service-oriented. These properties have high quality standards, comfort and services. The architecture and decoration have been carefully planned, and have lush green areas. They have room-service 24/7 and luxury restaurants. Rooms are spacious, with luxury furniture, interior decoration, and bed linen.


Luxury

Luxury hotels that surpass the 5 star rating. Facilities with exquisite taste and personalized services that fulfill the most strict quality standards, and are among the best in the world.


Bungalows & Cottages

Small one-floor constructions. Most bungalows are rustic, with ridged palm tree roofs. They have decoration and furniture made from local material (wood, palm or stone). They are usually located on the beach.


Villas

Best for families with several children or groups of friends. Advantages of villas: lodging is less expensive compared to hotel rooms, and most provide a kitchenette or equipped kitchen: stove, fridge, microwave and dishware.
